Another calisthenic park and Street Basket was inaugurated in the city of Lisbon, a project approved in the Participatory Budget, which had already offered a park similar to Marvila Parish.
In the line to 2022 is construction of Street Workout park in the Parish of Belem.
This work was financed by the Lisbon City Council and carried out by the Parish Council of Parque das Nações, under a contract for the delegation of powers in collaboration with Kenguru Pro.
After the opening of the Calisthenic Marvila Park in 2019, the first in the city, the sport has gained more and more followers. On August 20th, it opened a second space, this time at Parque das Nações.
The new calisthenics park is located on Chen He Street, “Parque das Nações north sports area”, where there is also a skate park, a pump track and three street basketball courts. It has an area of 390 square meters and includes things like triple French push-up bar, curled bar, low parallel bar equipment, double parallel bars or exercise columns, among other equipment.
The ‘Street Basket’ fields, located on the same place, in the eastern part of Parque das Nações. Covering an area of 800 m2, and reusing materials existing in shipyards since the World Exhibition of Lisbon in 1998, this infrastructure for the practice of sporting activities includes three ‘Street Basket’ fields, one of which is prepared to receive official competitions from this event. The ‘Street Basket’ courses, now completed, increase and diversify the offer of sports and leisure facilities in the “Parque Desportivo Norte” and were enhanced with an extraordinary artistic intervention carried out by the ‘Thunders Crew’ collective.
